What does Ash Wednesday mean to you?

ASH WEDNESDAY - 21 FEB

Has anyone got any special plans, to celebrate this day of Australian History?

What is this day really all about?

To me, it’s one of extreme regret.

Why, because until a short time before Ash Wednesday, i was a local cfa firman. for the first time in 20 years, i had to sit back and watch other people do the hard work.

The obvious loss of human life, property and limb goes without saying. However, if you want to find positives out of extreme negatives, look at the way people pull together in a crisis.

Not only the people, or neighbours helping each other, it is the old age pensioner coming up with a smal donation to the fire brigade in the hope their contribution may do some good some where.

Its the churches, and community groups who volunteer to make sandwhiches, feed the workers, wash hoses and the like.

I suspect it is the same all over the world- i hope it is, in a crisis, the people do come together
